Fox Sportscaster Emily Jones, tweeted this about sending her kindergarten student to school for the first time.
It made me chuckle, but remember that many Wylie parents may have the same anxiety. Back to school is an exciting time, but the unknown is sometimes difficult for parents and students alike. If Mrs. Jones were sending her kiddo to a Wylie school, I would tell her not to worry; he will LOVE it!
I would want Mrs. Jones to know we want her kid to shine! We intentionally light the pathway for our students with hopefulness and happiness that help them achieve in school and life. In fact, we pause academic subjects several times a year to help students by growing values such as respect, responsibility, caring, giving, grit and gratitude.
I would tell Mrs. Jones that our teachers L-O-V-E your kids! Teachers celebrate their success and hurt as bad as parents do when a student struggles. Teachers and principals have worked all summer to prepare for the first day of school. In fact, your son’s kinder teacher has likely worked around the clock to make their classroom fantastic! Check out this post from Smith Elementary.
It is funny, but an accurate representation of just how hard teachers work to make the first day as special as possible.
Finally, I would let Mrs. Jones know that great kids, parents, and teachers, plus a lot of love and support are the reason Wylie ISD is among state and nationally elite academically. We love your kid and they are going to have a great day that will turn into a great year! We want our students to end each day with hope in their heart and know that we care about them.
Welcome back all 15,800 Wylie ISD students to the new school year! 2017-18 going to be our best yet!
Mrs. Jones, wherever your kindergarten student goes to school, I hope he has a great first day too!
Just a reminder Wylie parents, I will be out all day taking selfies with your kids and teachers. Friend me on Facebook and see if I find your kid!
