A few years ago, the Wylie ISD District Council of PTA’s recognized a problem. Some students came to school out of dress code because they couldn’t afford to purchase the required khakis, polo shirt and belt necessary to be in compliance. As usual, these parents took quick action and created “Wylie Way Outfitters,” a one stop shop for everything kids need to not only be in dress code, but receive some pretty nice clothes.
One element that is missing at Wylie Way Outfitters are the basics of underwear and socks. For obvious reasons, we don’t accept anything but new socks and undergarments and for this reason, those needs go unmet. To help the PTA and our kids with the clothes they need, we are hosting a Wylie ISD sock and underwear drive from September 26-30. We are asking everyone to bring a pair of socks and undies in the size of your children. You can simply drop them off at your child’s campus or at our Educational Service Center at 951 South Ballard in Wylie.
If you have any questions, please email our Community Outreach Coordinator Joley Martin at joley.martin@wylieisd.net. She is super nice and would be glad to help!
Our goal is to collect 3,500 pairs of underwear and socks for our children in need. Thank you for all you do to take care of EVERY child in our school district. Caring and sharing is the Wylie Way!
