Though Wylie ISD students won’t get their report cards for eight more weeks, the district as a whole has already received grades from the Texas Education Agency. TEA recently released school district “report card” ratings, and our kids and educators leveled up! In fact, we were among the few large school districts in Texas to receive an “A” in the first year of the new rating system. How cool is that?
HOW DID WE EARN IT?
Our rating was based on our phenomenal STAAR results and a number of other factors that tell us our kids are achieving a Wylie ISD school board goal of preparing students for a prosperous life beyond high school. The data helps us to know that what we are doing is working; our students are achieving at an extremely high level.
OUR GOAL: GROWING YOUR KIDS
We love to see your kids succeed on the STAAR tests, but we believe that one test is not the only indicator of success. Student growth is always our first priority. The new rating system celebrates growth and helps to encourage a growth mindset. When students show progress, it makes me truly happy. We are proud of our kids, our Wylie ISD educators, our parents, our school board members, and our amazing results. Wylie ISD, you are the standard for awesome!

SPECIAL VISITOR
How well did we do? We did so well that Mike Morath, Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency, held his press conference in Wylie ISD to unveil the new report card system for the entire state of Texas. We were chosen based on student performance. I believe we can attribute their performance regarding our belief in educating the whole child, academically, socially and emotionally, the Wylie Way! You made this happen, congratulations on your success!!!
UNDERSTANDING THE “A” RATING
We want to thank Commissioner Morath for being the latest guest on our Achieving Kids podcast. Instead of us describing this in a longer blog, Mr. Morath was kind enough to explain it in his own words. Please click on the Achieving Kids link to access the podcast.
