Last year, moms from the Wylie ISD District Council of PTA’s were concerned that some of our kids were not going to receive Christmas gifts. Springing into action, they brought the community together starting what they called “The Wylie Way Christmas” to make sure every student had something under the tree. Of course our moms were successful, every family that requested assistance received gifts!
This year, the need for assistance drastically increased because a local volunteer group that previously provided this service to our community was not able to participate. This increases the number from 538 to 816 kids that need our help. In a week’s time, 721 tags have already been picked up! This leaves only 95 students to address every need in our community.
95 Kids and COUNTING!!!
On behalf of the organizers and PTA, thank you SO much for this outpouring of caring and giving. This is one of the million reasons I L-O-V-E our school! Wylie ISD is a place where families, teachers and leaders believe helping others is just as important as math, reading or science.
Interested in adopting one of the 95 students we have left or signing up to help organize the WWC event? Stop by our Education Service Center at 951 South Ballard to pick up a tag and sign up here to volunteer. I was asked that all gifts be delivered unwrapped and the tag returned with the items.
Thanks for making this season of caring and giving so special for every family and teaching our kids a great lesson in the process.
YOU are the WYLIE WAY!
