I’ll say it proudly and without hesitation: I’m a momma’s boy. Every conversation with my mom, my sweet “Lulu,” ends with “I love you.” And without fail, she responds in her warm, sincere way: “I love you more.” No words can fully express the depth of love she has for me, and I respond with the same sincerity. That kind of love leaves a lifelong imprint.

Today, July 10, 2025, marks 32 amazing years of marriage to my wife, Cristy. She is my best friend, my partner in every sense of the word, and the most devoted mom our kiddos Kate and Cal could ever ask for. Before the day even officially began, she told me she loved me, and I answered just like Lulu taught me: “I love you more.”

And I meant it, deeply. I’m so grateful for the love I’ve received from two extraordinary women, my mother and my wife. Their unwavering support has shaped me not only as a husband and father but also as an educator and leader.
As Superintendent of Wylie ISD, one of my greatest hopes is that every student in our schools experiences a relationship like that, one where they feel genuinely loved, supported, and safe. That’s a cornerstone of The Wylie Way. Our annual student surveys continue to affirm this: the vast majority of our students report having at least one meaningful connection with a trusted adult on campus. That connection matters. It changes lives.

Because here’s the truth: love isn’t just a feeling, it’s transformative. It moves mountains, heals hurts, builds bridges, and binds communities. When kids feel loved, they feel safe. When they feel safe, they engage. When they engage, they learn, grow, and thrive.
So if I could have one wish, it would be this: that your children feel the same depth of love and encouragement at school as I have always felt from my Lulu and Cristy. I hope your children love their schools, their teachers, and their time with us at Wylie ISD.
And please know this, we love them more, the Wylie Way!
