How do you shine? That moment when you do something for someone else that makes you feel good and make the lives of those around you a little nicer. Diane Neel is our secretary for the Communications and Community Relations Department in Wylie ISD. Diane lives and works in our community, she volunteers at church and supports our local law enforcement association. Diane believes that by helping others, she makes our community a stronger place for her family and ours too!
Diane shines with a strength we call “Connectedness” or the ability to tie everything back to a single purpose. She is in charge of our Wylie Way Food Drive and what she does to help feed her community is amazing! When she organizes the more than 2,100 boxes of food for delivery to our local food pantry, the Christian Care Center, she knows that every can will go directly back to families that make up Wylie ISD.
Schools will be collecting food from today through November 8. Please help a local family by making a food or monetary donation. We have a “grocery list” of items the Christian Care Center would ask your child to bring to support local families in need.
Our Wylie ISD goal is to collect 90,000 food items and $10,000 in monetary donations. Our equally important goal is to teach our kids the values of caring and giving. Like Diane, we want our kids to make the connection that the helping each other often starts with helping those closest to home.
We want them to understand they are feeding their neighbors. Thank you for helping us with a food or monetary donation. Thank you for helping our kids understand the values of caring and giving, the Wylie Way.
And have you ever wondered how a can makes this journey of caring? Check out the “Life of a Can.”
