The very foundation of our school district is based on character. We hold our core values, character education development, and positive relationships to the same standard of excellence we do our academics. We focus on essential character traits and how we live character in a way that builds hope, well-being, and engagement in our hearts and the hearts of those around us.
The Wylie Way is the foundation for our process of developing character in our students. To develop character skills students must learn the core ethical values and principles to make ethical decisions that positively impact themselves and others. BOLDY instilling these values is a priority at Wylie ISD and we want to ensure our students go on to be responsible members of our global community.
The Character Education Program (CEP) survey is new and is the work of a partnership between Wylie ISD and the University of Florida. We began this partnership to design a survey that would reflect the specific values and character skills of the Wylie Way and meet Texas Education Agency compliance standards. This survey collects student data on preparedness for goal-setting, self-management, character skills, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making and also measures the effectiveness of Wylie ISD’s character education program.
Students from grades 3-12 will participate in the Character Education Program survey. The surveys sent to students and the rationale provided for each question may be found below.
The Wylie Way is the sum of many parts: strengths & interests, plan & purpose, core ethical values, social & emotional health, and surrounding our students with positive relationships.
