Wylie ISD graduates Michael Messer (WEHS) and Cooper Anderson (WHS) love sports, share the goal of pursuing a sports-related career someday and represented their university men’s basketball teams as managers in the NCAA Elite 8 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Hope is the belief that tomorrow can be better than today and you have the power to make it happen. Cooper (Texas Tech) and Michael (Kentucky) crafted their own unique plan to a more hopeful tomorrow.
World leading expert on the psychology of happiness, Shawn Achor defines happiness as: ”the joy you feel moving towards your potential.” Their pathway led to scholarships as managers that allow them to keep them moving towards their tomorrow, just down a little different pathway.
Check out Shawn Achor’s Ted Talk here, its really great!
Celebrating a Final Four appearance with Texas Tech is something I won’t forget. Seeing Cooper Anderson on the bench moving towards his goal makes my heart warm. Our hope is that every Wylie ISD kiddos find their pathway to pursue a passion like these two young men.
If you get to watch Texas Tech play this weekend, take a moment to notice the passion of Coach Chris Beard, National Coach of the Year. Tech ranked 8th in their conference (not in America) when the year started. How did Coach Beard get his start in pursuing his passion? Just like Cooper and Michael, he was the manager for the Texas Longhorns.
Celebrating our kids, their accomplishments and helping them find joy in moving towards their potential, even when its includes a crooked pathways is the Wylie Way!
