The Canadian River winds like a snake through the remote parts of the Texas Panhandle. Between quicksand, rattlesnakes, and other wild animals, traveling along this Texas tributary is risky. Riding alongside a river can be dangerous. A partner is essential in ensuring safety. If a cowboy says he would “ride the river” with you, consider it a high compliment. It means that you are dependable, trusted, and can stay calm under pressure. You can pull someone out of quicksand, treat a rattlesnake bite, or even help find a calf separated from the herd. You can step up in a time of need; you can save the day.
When you ride for the Wylie Brand, you share our values, our love, and our support for one another with your words and your actions.
Riding for our brand means you are reliable and responsible. You use your strengths, And they play an essential role in our mission to grow kids, the Wylie Way.
When Wylie ISD had to close its doors to protect our kids from COVID 19, you circled the wagons and prepared like the finest army the world has ever known. WEHS Assistant Principal, Kris Cravens, shared this message on social media this week.
I am grateful for Kris, and I am thankful for this reminder. Our kids trust and love you because they experience responsibility, respect, caring, giving, dependability, and grit by your words and actions. When they experience these values, they are much more likely to share them and incorporate them as adults.
